Παιδιά πήρα το Σάββατο την εφημερίδα «Athens News» και με έπληξη μεγάλη στην δεύτερη σελίδα της εν λόγω εφημερίδας βρέθηκα να διαβάζω και πραγματικά να μην πιστεύω σ’αυτά που διαβάζω…..

The education ministry is currently hammering out a multimillion-euro programme to promote the integration of increasingly high numbers of immigrant children in public schools.
If all goes according to plan, some million euros in European Union funds will be invested for the creation of new programmes this September that are aimed at teaching immigrant children their mother language and teaching Greek to their parents.
The government’s intention to promote bilingualism in public schools was announced by Education Minister Anna Diamantopoulou during a conference on immigration in Athens last week.
«The idea is that we will introduce the mother language in a project we are now submitting to the EU for funding,» Thalia Dragona, the education ministry’s special secretary for intercultural education, told the Athens News.
» We are proposing after-school lessons,» she adds. «We are not yet at the stage of introducing bilingual schools like the ones in Canada or Australia. There is really no tradition or bilingual schools in Europe.»
Policy initiatives-aimed at turning the mother tongue of immigrant pupils into a sort of bridge between cultures- are expected be implemented in September in schools with an immigrant student body of 20 percent or more, Dragona said»
